Blue Marble Family Farm was founded as Rumpus Ridge Dairy Farm in 1972 by Art Kirch. Located just a few miles south and west of the village of Barneveld, Wisconsin, the farm encompasses 450 acres and a herd of approximately 75 cows.
Arts son, Nick, and his siblings spent their childhood working in and learning the dairy business. When their parents retired, Nick bought the farm and has continued the legacy of quality and sustainability that has been its hallmark since the early 1970s. When contemplating the future of his farm, Nick asked his two young sons if they were interested in farming. They both said yes. It was then that he decided to move forward with the plan for the bottling of his farms milk. He saw it as the best way to ensure a long-term future in farming for the boys without necessitating the move toward large factory farming.
Blue Marble Family Farm consistently produces some of Wisconsins highest quality milk and has been recognized time and again for its high standards and resulting product by the commodity buyers. In fact, less than 10% of the milk produced in the United States meets Blue Marbles quality standards. When you drink milk from Blue Marble Family Farm, youre getting the best there is, in Wisconsin and nationwide.
It is distressing to note that the larger national milk producers who have purchased milk from Blue Marble Family Farm have told Nick that the higher quality of his farms milk isnt worth paying significantly extra for because the consumer doesnt really care about quality, only about price. Nick thinks otherwise. This is another of the reasons he decided to move forward with the plan to bottle Blue Marble Family Farms milk right here on location.
He believes now as he believed then that consumers do care about the quality of the milk they drink. In bottling this farms milk, hes putting that belief to the test. Your support will bear the proof of his efforts. We welcome your feedback and appreciate your support of Blue Marble Family Farm.
Our approach to dairying and to farming is simply this:
We believe that the consumer has the right to know where their milk comes fromthe environment in which it is produced, the quality standards that determine whether or not the milk goes into the bottle, the manner in which the cows that produce it are treatedas well as where the money spent on a bottle of milk and other farm products goes. (For more on this, see: Do you know where your milk comes from? )
We also believe that the farmer and the consumer should try to create a bond based on trust, integrity and truth so that the positive co-dependency of the relationship can be sustained for the long term. In short, farmers need consumers and consumers need farmers. The better the relationship between us, the better the food and milk that goes into our bodies can be, and the more likely we are to create better, longer lives for each other.
Finally, we believe that if you take care of Mother Nature, shell take care of you.
